We're excited to work with you!

The Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle thanks you for your interest in working with us to improve the quality of life of those we serve! While our staff is doing extraordinary work each and every day, we recognize that empowering communities and changing lives is a TEAM effort. Together we can be better, bigger, stronger, and more empowered than ever before!

This is just the beginning. Here you’ll find all the information you need to get started with the ULMS volunteer sign-up process. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out via the contact information below!

Important Updates
volunteer activities

Due to the impacts of COVID-19, the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle has decided to limit our volunteer program engagement. To ensure your safety, the safety of our staff and to help reduce the spread of the virus, we will not be accepting any consistent volunteer participation at this time. Volunteer activities will be limited to “pop up” outdoor events (ex: meal giveaways, PPE disbursement, family emergency kit outreach, etc.)

Our hope is that once the curve of the virus has flattened (and the number of COVID cases in our community has dropped considerably) we will be able to accept traditional volunteer participation again and continue our important work together. In the meantime, all volunteer applications submitted from now on will be logged into our volunteer database. Only those in our volunteer database will be notified of volunteer activities and opportunities.

COVID-19 CONSIDERATIONS: ULMS has implemented a vaccination mandate for all employees, contractors, and volunteers. COVID-19 vaccination is required to participate as a ULMS volunteer.

Thank for your interest and commitment to joining the movement!

Volunteers may be involved in all programs, events, and activities of the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle with few considerations:

Age: Due to the nature of our clientele, standard volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. However, high school students may obtain volunteer hours (in a limited capacity) with express written consent from a parent or legal guardian.

Gender: Volunteers are not restricted by gender and/or sexual orientation.

Racial Background: Volunteers are not restricted by race.

Criminal Background: Having a criminal background does not exclude an individual from volunteering with ULMS. However, depending on the nature of the offense, some volunteers may be ineligible to participate in specific departments or with specific programs.

COVID-19 CONSIDERATIONS: ULMS has implemented a vaccination mandate for all employees, contractors, and volunteers. COVID-19 vaccination is required to participate as a ULMS volunteer.

The Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle is recognized as an approved agency through the Seattle Municipal court. Therefore, individuals completing required community service through the court system may select ULMS as a volunteer location.

In addition, volunteers seeking to complete student intern projects, alternative sentencing programs, and/or other mandated community service may do so with ULMS.  If you’d like to use your volunteer hours as credit toward fulfilling another obligation, please indicate so on the volunteer sign-up form.

All volunteers are required to review and accept the terms of the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle Volunteer Policy before partaking in any tasks on behalf of the organization. Volunteers and volunteer interests are encouraged to view the full Volunteer policy via the button below at any time.
